Welcome!
The goal of this blog is to provide you with recipes to refuel a workout or just to nurture your body throughout the day, along with some wellness or rehabilitation tips for following surgery, or to prevent and help stop pain. You can contact me at Berryhappybodies@gmail.com.
I am not a MD, but I do have a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Disclaimer: I cannot diagnose online, but I can help to refer you to the right Health Practitioner in your area. Before starting any type of workout program it is always good to go to your doctor first to get clearance. I am not a nutritionist or dietician, I just am writing nutrition info from what is published in the literature. The tips I provide online are just tips, for further information or diagnosis visit your health practitioner. As a physical therapist, my goal is to prevent surgery. However, there are some cases where it is necessary which is why I have the surgical information section. You can e-mail me with any questions.
Ok, on to other stuff: Before going back to school for Physical Therapy I was a Massage Therapist and Personal Trainer. I have been in the health and fitness industry since I was 16, I am now 30 something. But, I am not a nutritionist or even a chef. My cooking technique is probably horrible, I apologize. I am a work in progress! But, my goal is to show you delicious recipes you make at home even if you are not a chef.
You could say I was born into a healthy lifestyle, but I did now always follow the straight and narrow path. Now, I appreciate how I feel when I do eat healthy, and stay active. I have been a yogi for over a decade, just picked up running and surfing, and I was a springboard diver. I also try to follow my talented husband down a Mountain snowboarding
. We try to explore San Diego, and whenever we travel hiking or running together.
In terms of diet I believe in moderation. I have tried most eating styles, even the lemonade master cleanse. I feel my best and maintain the weight (yes, I have gained and lost that weight) my joints and I feel most comfortable with using moderation and small portions. So, I am not gluten free, or vegan, or raw or no carbohydrates, or no sugar (life would be so dull!) fat etc……
The one rule I have is meat (in any form). I have not ate meat in close to two decades. I don’t know if I ever will again. However, my husband is not a Vegetarian so you will see some non Vegetarian recipes here as well. Among other tasty treats
.
Feel free to e-mail me your input and suggestions. I love hearing feedback.
Thank you for stopping by!

Good morning!
Just came across your blog today after receiving the crab taco tuesday post from another site. I am looking forward to having some time to read through your postings as I am a personal trainer myself (currently looking for full time employment in the state of RI), I love to cook/bake and I love to find new & exciting healthy recipes.
I went apple picking this weekend and have 20lbs of apples on my kitchen table, do you happen to have any recipes to share using fresh apples?
Happy Fall!
Melissa
